Come join us for an evening of learning and networking as we hear Sam Mitchell, the recently retired Valvoline CEO, share about leadership. He will discuss his perspective on leading and a retrospective view of things he might have done differently.
Sam is a “semi-retired” business executive/board member committed to growing organizations focused on youth and community development in Kentucky and around the world. He led Valvoline as president from 2002-2015 and chief executive officer from 2016-2023.
Sam and his wife, Beth, reside in Lexington, KY, where they raised their four children and where Sam worked at Valvoline for 26 years. His business career started in commercial banking, followed by 9 years in brand management with Clorox, leading to his time with Valvoline, which included an IPO in 2016 (NYSE “VVV”). He is actively involved in many non-profits, both locally and internationally, using his business and Kingdom focus to support these organizations.
